St.Patrick's Tamil Medium Higher Secondary School, Trichy.

The Patrician Brothers in India opened their first Tamil Medium School in the year 1988 at Alundur Village in Trichy on the 25-acre land which was bought for the Scholasticate for training of young professed Brothers. Under a thatched roof, just space enough for around twenty children to sit on the floor, Bro. Kalaiselvan took charge of what was to be the great St. Patrick’s Higher Secondary School of today. Bro. Prasad Kalaiselvam, with Miss. Josephine to assist him, began with just 19 students in class VI (8 boys and 11 girls). Later, as the school grew, Classes were conducted in the Scholasticate building. The school was upgraded to a High School (IX and X) in 1991. The first batch of 18 students wrote their class Ten Government Examination in 1993 and since then has been securing excellent results.

In 2000, a separate modern school building was constructed and the school shifted to its present site. The school continued to produce hundred percent results in the Government conducted High School Examination and was raised to a Higher Secondary School in 2006. In January 2007 a new extension of the school building to house the Higher Secondary classes and Science Laboratories was inaugurated by Bro. Jerome Ellens, Superior General. Today the school has 20 spacious classrooms, science and computer laboratories, staff room and an auditorium.

The first batch of Higher Secondary Students passed out in the Bicentenary Year 2008. At present there are 816 students – 485 boys and 331 girls. Many of the former students are well placed with most of them in recent years going on to tertiary education.
